I have the floor model, which is of very similar design (also 66 LEDs). The larger number of LEDs puts Koncept at the head of the pack in LED lighting. This lamp is not a toy; it is really useful. It takes a bit of getting used to, however. The LED approach makes the business end much smaller than either compact florescent or incandescent, and, as it is also cooler and lighter in weight, it can be put closer to the reading material. It enables you to get good light on your reading material, but everywhere else is dark, so you don't get as much ambient room lighting.

The lamp design is fine and is actually somewhat undersold. The head rotates 360 degrees through a phone-type plug at its base, so you can shine it at the ceiling if you wish. Fits and finishes are good. The thing is lightweight overall, but the base is heavy enough to provide good balance.

I have only two gripes, the first of which is that the converter consumes electricity even when the lamp is off. If you really want to reap the benefit of the low wattage, you have to put in a separate switch or pull the plug after use. My second, albeit minor, gripe is that they use the European or Asian convention in that the lower button on the column is the on button, the upper one being the off button. I'm constantly hitting the wrong one.

If you want a good portable reading lamp, buy it, you'll like it.
