I received this lamp and was surprised how dark the shades were.When the light is off the shades are more of a golden brown.If your looking for something that has a soft muted golden color when off--look elsewhere.When the light is on the color is better, but still not the beautiful yellow-gold color displayed in the photo.Other than the color the lamp is what I expected.
