This lamp does the trick:it's nice looking and solidly made and casts a pleasant bright light. It is heavily weighted in its base, so it stands firmly on top of the piano and is not wobbly at all.The slightly high shipping cost is probably due to this weight. Two minor nits to pick:it doesn't come with bulbs (it uses two specialty 'T' bulbs that you need to go to a hardware store to find), and its switch is on the cord about 1 foot down from the base of the lamp. This means that you can't put the lamp in the middle of the piano and run the cord behind the piano, because then the switch is unreachable behind the piano. So we run the cord all along the top of the piano and off the edge of it.A switch on the lamp itself would make more sense. Also, I haven't found this type of bulb in a fluorescent - so you have to burn 80 watts in this thing. But overall, recommended.
