I ordered this on a Saturday, and was amazed when it arrived on Tuesday!But I was further amazed at how absolutely cute these lamps are for the guest bedroom I decorated in Southwest style.I have one on each side of the bed on sage green nightstands, and they look fantastic!They are well-made and very attractive. Only thing that would have made these more authentic-looking would be to change the color of the shade from white to maybe a bone color, to more match the desert sand.Love these and so glad I got them!

Overall I'm very pleased with this lamp.I bought it to replace a "regular" lamp that I'd used with a screw-in Ott-Lite bulb.The Ott-Lite's light level was good for a few weeks, but it faded fast, and then it refused to die,leaving me in the frustrating position of having to decide when to pull the plug.Talk about SAD.

A few notable features of the Executive Sunlight lamp:

*The light level is excellent and with not-infrequent use mine has stayed that way for a year.

*It's handsome.The brushed-nickel metal base, hood, and joints look substantial. The reddish "wood" finish is an obvious fake, but because it's dark you have to look pretty hard to notice.

*It's adjustable with two thumbscrews--primitive, but straightforward. If you extend the lamp head as far as possible from the base, it'll topple over with very little provocation.However, I've seen lots of adjustable lamps that won't stand up at all with the lamp head extended.In any case, in this lamp the bulb is well protected by the hood.

*These are "touch" lamps with the mechanism on the base.Mine shorted out when I walked across a wool carpet and it sparked when I touched it.I was amazed at how good the customer service was, though.I called to get a replacement switch, thinking I'd fix it myself, and they just sent a new lamp, no questions asked, no charge.Now I have the old one plugged into a separate on/off switch.It works fine.

For me, the charms of this lamp well outweigh the quirks.I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

Z-Bar LED Desk Lamp - Metallic Black Review

I like the looks of this light a lot. I use it in my office over my computer space. It is stylish in a high-tech way so it fits this setting well.

Pros
-It is amazingly skinny so it doesn't clutter the air space around your desk.
-Very little heat is generated which means you don't have to worry about burning your fingers when you adjust the light.
-The total weight of the lamp is minimal (a few pounds at most) so it easily clamps onto the end of my desk. The clamp itself is very tiny. This frees up more desk space.
-The light output is plenty adequate.

Cons
-The major negative is that the on/off buttons are located near the base which means you must reach all the way across your desk to access them especially if you use the clamp. If you have desk stuff in the way which is one of the reasons to use the clamp in the first place, then it is cumbersome. If the on/off switch were located near the LED's, this would make a much more user-friendly design. You do have the option of using the circular desk stand which would bring the on/off switch slightly closer to you but this takes up desk space.
-Price. Not outrageous but it certainly makes you think twice when you can get a perfectly adequate non-LED lamp for $100 less.

Overall, I am happy with my purchase. The on/off switch annoyance isn't that big a deal to me because my desk is relatively clean.

I would recommend ordering elsewhere.The order came extremely quickly (3 days).The bulb works when inserted.No problem there.

The issue: no where on the package does it indicate the bulb is a full spectrum bulb.Now I see the description on the site says "white light replacement light bulbs for Bell & Howell Sunlight Desk Lamp."I thought a replacement bulb for a full spectrum bulb would mean the replacement is also full spectrum. Apparently "replacement" in this case means it fits in the 4 prong socket and will give light.Neither the website ad nor the package indicates this is a full spectrum light.I feel ripped off.My burnt out bulb is marked "balanced spectrum" and "manual daylight" on it--not clear what manual daylight means. I suggest ordering the Verilux bulb from another source which is described as a full spectrum bulb.

Also, at the time I ordered (3-4 days ago), I had to order a package of 2 bulbs from this company (Lilgift).Today the website indicates bulbs can be ordered one at a time.I see also the suggested tags for this product and "full spectrum" is not one of them.

Very nice light but not sure it is worth the money. Crisp white, all over light, and does well with fine tune adjusting of arm and lamp head. Well balanced and heavy, HEAVY, base - which is nice. Ledu L9008 Fluorescent desk lamp with folding shade, 15-1/2 high, silver Review

Over five years ago I found on Amazon a Panasonic lamp similar to this one except slightly smaller and better built.I liked it so much (it replaced one of those heavy-metal, monstrous institutional-issue florescent lamps that had become a space-stealing, dust-collecting eyesore), that when I lost it in an office move, I desperately searched the web for a replacement.Sadly, it appears that, as far as Panasonic is concerned, desk lamps have gone the way of the circular portable CD players the company once excelled at making.This Ledu lamp wasn't the Panasonic lamp's spitting image, but it was close enough to be worth the risk.

Now that it's arrived and replaced yet another eyesore--one, moreover, that would never hold its position but kept drooping down to my desktop--I'm hopeful of some extended use from the item.It's bright enough, with a partially open upper surface for lighting, say, a bulletin board just above the desktop.It's also small enough to free up lots of space--and without any apparent sacrifice in illumination or coverage.

Here's why I have to hold off on a five-star glowing review.Neither the box nor the lamp bears any sign whatsoever of a brand name (or any sort of name--how Amazon came up with the name "Ledu" is anyone's guess).This is as generic as you can get. At least some of those exporters of dirt-cheap TV sets will stamp some modernistic title or a terminated but still-familiar name like Admiral, Crosley, Sylvania on their products.The other reason I'm a bit leery is the dubious tightening screw at the base of the arm: it offers a bit of faint resistance, then suddenly "breaks loose," inviting you to rescrew it all over again.As a result, moderate pressure on the top of the lamp is all that's required to make it droop to the desktop, which is sort of where I started from.

Still, my reservations may be completely unwarranted.A mechanically-inclined son will no doubt have an answer to tightening the arm--both at its base and at the top where the lamp is attached--so that I can be assured of the lamp's quotidian practicality (my ego doesn't require a lamp that bows to me each day).

Adesso Eternity Extended Gooseneck Desk Lamp, Satin Steel Review

I purchased this lamp to be a reading lamp for bed.Overall,I am not disappointed.The LEDs are not the super bright variety, but it puts off enough light by which to read.

My one real complaint is that the goose neck is not strong enough to support its own weight.Either slowly over time or in sudden, jerky motions, the lamp "falls".this is not catastrophic and it can be overcome with a little twisting, but it is inconvenient, which is why I did not give the lamp 4 stars.

Overall, this is a good reading lamp and I will continue using it until the next great thing comes along.

Christmas Story 20" Lamp - Desk Leg Review

This half-scale reproduction of "Dad's" famous "major award" isn't completely accurate (as has been noted here in another review) but for a mere 40 bucks, it's certainly close enough for most Christmas Story fans, including this one! The large-size version by NECA also suffers from the same (minor) inaccuracies, so their half-size version is certainly the better deal if you're hankering to own the classic leg lamp. Something to consider: It's smaller scale will fit nicely on the table between your home theatre recliners and will go well with any other home theatre decor. It certainly does with mine, never failing to draw smiling comments when a new guest first sees it. And your lamp will too. (And my home theatre room is full of other types of movie/tv memorbilia to distract the eye.) So stop vascilating and "award" this classic to yourself (or a loved one) for being a steadfast fan of one of the best holiday movies ever made. Adjustable Halogen Desk Lamp from Destination Lighting Review

My old desk lamp broke, and I needed a new and good one.I've been very pleased with my remaining older halogen desk lamp - but that model doesn't appear to be available any longer. This new desk lamp from Destination Lighting arrived carefully packaged and completely assembled.We just plugged it in.I positioned the lamp's bulb about 2 feet above my full-size computer keyboard, and it provides nicely bright lighting for a area about 2/3 the size of the (black) keyboard.The polished nickel finish is handsome.The lamp easily rotates from close-to-vertical to horizontal or any position in between: the mast is about 2 feet long - a common dimension for this type of lamp.It permits variable lighting positions.The one downside is that Destination Lighting tacks on a $15 shipping fee which is really outrageous in this day and age of online shopping - usually with free or lost cost shipping.

Verilux Legacy Natural Spectrum Desk and Table Lamp, Aged Bronze Review

Beautiful Lamp, but have no idea if it works. Bulb was broken when I opened package. It is a 26 watt floresent bulb but was not the screw in type that is common in most stores. This one has a base with two pins that you put in two slots in the lamp. I called Verilux customer service and was told the bulb was readily available at Lowes, Home Depot, or Ace hardware. Well guess what, when I took the base of the bulb to Lamps plus,Ace Hardware, OSH Hardware, Target, and every local hardware store in Pasadena, Calif. I only got a smile and a blank stare. I finally got someone with some knowledge at Staples who informed me that this bulb base with two pins is similar to some of the halogen bulbs they sell. He had never seen or heard of a 26 watt floresent pin based bulb. I called verilux (who did not ship the lamp, Amazon did) and was informed that this type of bulb is new and they would send me a new one which would arrive in two weeks. In the meantime I have this beautiful new bronze lamp in my den that looks very nice but sheds no light. Who's to blame, I don't know, UPS, Amazon ??? all I know there is no place to buy this type of bulb in the Pasadena, San Gabriel Valley area of So. Calif. But this is why I buy most everything from Amazon, they are efficient and the product is delivered to your front door and it spares me from from shopping at the local Target, Best Buy etc. where I have yet to meet anyone with knowledge, experience and an IQ above 3. UPDATE, finally gotb bulb from Verilux and lamp is wonderful, beautiful full spectrum light. Would highly recommend.

This is a great desk lamp. It is probably about 1 1/2' tall when bent into shape. Nice amount of light, gives off a subtle blue tint around the room. Reliable and easy to turn on and off. Very nice. Also the organizer is useful for creating a bit more room. You can fit pencils and all sorts of other bits in the slots around the base. I believe it is not a halogen lamp because the shade doesn't ever get to hot to touch, which means less chance of unwanted fire.

I bought a $5 desk lamp at the grocery store, and liked it a lot.After a year the included 7-year life compact florescent bulb failed, and I discovered the bulb had an unusual GU24 base.Look at the pins on the bottom of the bulb in the picture.Home depot doesn't stock this type of bulb, so I almost threw the lamp away, then decided to order a bulb through amazon.

The bulb came safely though the mail protected in a plastic sleeve.Installed OK.Works fine.

NOTE: like all CF bulbs, this one contains Mercury.If it arrives broken do not open the plastic package.Do recycle when the bulb eventually fails.Home Depot will take bulbs purchased anywhere.

This is a great product.The sound is surprisingly good for the size and having the remote to control the ipod is very useful, since you can't from the base. Only sound, power, and light on/off control is on the lamp itself.The bass enhancement is a one-press button that does very little, but that's to be expected from a unit this small.(5watts total output)The base support is solid unlike the cheaper iHL10, but it came out of the box a little loose, so I had to tighten the large flathead screw to keep the shaft in the position I preferred. (problem easily solved) Plus, you can also adjust the head to point in any position as well.The halogen bulb shines bright & much better than my traditional lamp.

Lowes had these on clearance with their XMAS items, so I picked it up for $25.00 new!Frankly, I think it's too spendy at $100+ for what you get.With all of its coolness, full controls on the base would have been nice along with a spot to stash the controller, and because of the high street price I'm giving it 4 stars.

Tiffany Style Banker Butterfly Desk Lamp Review

I ordered this light more than a month ago. I wish I had seen the photos that were posted later showing the colors with the lamp turned off and on. Iexpected the lamp to be reddish & green as shown, and was SO disappointed when it arrived. The end borders were ORANGE [not red] and worse, they were a very light orange when lighted. And the butterfly wasn't green but a bright blue. That's why I rate it 4 stars rather than 5. It sits in a room that's predominantly brown & red, so the colors really clashed. I solved the problem by buying 2 bottles of translucent stained glass paint [red & green] for around $5.60 at a large crafts store [Michaels]. It's fast drying & cleans up with water. Several coats of red on the inside of the orange borders turned it to a deep orange-red. The lighter butterfly wings took 1-2 coats of green and the darker body & other wings needed several coats. I'm very pleased with the result and now enjoy having the light on my desk.

I saw this lamp a year ago but put off buying it till now.The box clearly shows the arm rotating back so you can adjust a comfortable height for use. What I discovered instead is that unless the arm is completely vertical the lamp slowly flops down to the table.There are screws to adjust the tension but what you see is not exactly what you get.
The amt of light is adequate but not great. 4hr charge on the higher light setting.I'm sending this back.

3M Task Lamp, Polarizing filter, Adjustable, 1750 Lumens, Silver Review

I needed a desk light for my office and my hope was this light would offset the need for me to use the high discharge florescent ceiling lights. The faint "zinging" noise and glare associated with florescent ceiling lights bothers me. The 3M Task Lamp adds a comfortable extra "dimension" of light to my immediate desk space. I do not understand the physics behind this technology but the spectrum of light produced by the Task Lamp is genuinely comfortable on the eyes.

My primary disappointment is this light is not bright enough. You need to have your material directly under the shade for it to be effective. It covers my desk-area but for example; if I'm reading something and lean back in my chair, it is not bright enough to continue reading in a reclined position. This is especially challenging when working at night. I have found my best application for this light is daytime use with the ceiling lights off and additional natural light coming through my window. At night I must use supplemental lighting.

My other disappointment is the feel of the material and mechanics in the power switch. The majority of the light is plastic. It is very light-weight and just does not compare to the finish and integrity of the twenty year old drafting lamp it replaced. The power button is glossy plastic. It has moderate wiggle and it clicks into place in a way that seems to echo cheap quality.

On the positive side- For such a lightweight lamp it is well balanced and not prone to tipping- even when the arm is extended far from the base. The light never gets hot, it does not produce any "hum or zing" and although the locking switch (holding the shade at the desired angle) is plastic, it tightens with consistency and securely. Finally, the lamp does not look cheap. It looks metallic and modern. It has a low cross-profile and so it is minimally intrusive when people are standing opposite my desk speaking with me.

In summary, this is a good "Task Lamp." The polarizing filter technology is legitimate and the lamp will complement any modern or contemporary office. I feel the cost of the lamp should be less expensive given the entire unit is made mostly of plastic. Finally, this lamp does not discharge a great volume of light. For reading, writing, typing, et cetera it is only adequate in the immediate area of your desk or work bench.

Pros:

-Even though Electrix calls this an "incandescent" desk lamp, 13w compact florescents (equivalent to 60 watt bulbs), or smaller, will fit.Higher wattage mini or micro-mini compacts with larger diameter bottoms, won't fit.However, the lamp accepts virtually any incandescent bulb you might want to use.I've settled on a 75 watt incandescent, since it projects plenty of white, non-flickering light, and comes on instantly.

- Although this lamp may, at first glance, appear similar to inexpensive models sold by stores such as Staples and Office Depot, that's where the similarity ends.The Electrix (except for the base) is very good quality.The lamp head stays where you put it, with no slipping down or frame drooping.The "plates" at the three points where the frame sections intersect are steel instead of the usual plastic found on cheaper models.The switch is the on/off type sold at most hardware or lamp stores, in case it ever needs replacing. The paint is well done.

- An inner shade keeps the outer shade cooler and increases light output because it's white.With a 75 watt bulb, the outer shade still gets hot, but not so much that you can't hold it during adjustment.A 100 watt incandescent is too bright for my tastes, plus the outer shade then gets too hot to handle.There is a small wire handle at the shade's bottom for movement, if the heat bothers you.I'll switch to a 13w compact florescent in the summer, since that type of bulb doesn't [also] heat the room.

Cons:

- The base isn't nearly heavy enough.Rotate the lamp only a little to one side and the whole thing falls over.The base support post must be at the furthest point away from the lamp head for any stability at all.Fully extend the lamp outward from there, and it only reaches 18" (support post to center of bulb); not even close to the 28" claimed.At an 18" extension, the lamp slowly falls over and you have to catch it to prevent it from crashing down.Raised all the way vertically, with the shade pointed down, the bottom of the shade is 19" above the desk.

Other:

- Although shoplet dot com shipped the lamp in the factory box, rather than packing it in a secondary box, it arrived undamaged.

Summary:

Shame on Electrix for the tip-over design, which severely limits lamp head positioning.The cast iron weight in the base should be twice as heavy, at least.I threw the factory base in the trash and mounted the lamp in a desk lamp clamp from my previous desk lamp.Now, it won't tip over no matter how it's positioned, or how far it's extended.Electrix is well aware of this design defect, proven by the fact that they install a machine "stop" screw in the base plate to prevent the lamp from extending beyond 18" to reduce tip-overs.With a desk clamp supporting the lamp, the stop screw can be removed, allowing the lamp to extend up to 24" (if laid almost flat), and to also allow it move backward two more inches.I'm satisfied with the lamp ONLY because I happened to have that desk lamp clamp.Mounting the lamp in the supplied base was unacceptable to me.Three stars is generous.

I clamped this puppy onto my desk so that I could work on my art projects.Originally, I was hoping to obtain a more natural light (combining the fluorescent bulb with one of those "full-spectrum" bulbs) but it didn't work out the way I'd hoped.However, that small issue aside, I've got some other points I'd like to make:

Pros:
1) Solidly constructed.The springs, arms, and shade are tough.I wouldn't use the parts to build a roll-cage for a 4x4, but for holding it's own weight, bumping into it occasionally, and breaking it down to put in storage, it's plenty rugged - (Note: I haven't actually put it into storage since Igot it, but I wouldn't hesitate!).

2) With a nice, metal clamp at the base, this lamp stays put.Other articulating lamps I've had tended to wriggle off the edge of my desk after 20 or so rotations of the lamp about the base.Not this one. I clamped it to my desk 7 months ago, articulated the heck out of it on regular basis since, and I haven't had to re-tighten it once. Sweet.

3) You don't lose and outlet with this lamp because it's got one at that base. I plug my laptop into it and I plug other electronic devices requiring A/C power. Be still, my beating heart.

4) This thing's got a vicious, 40" reach and it stays where you put it.No sagging; not even a slow droop.40" reach.Damn, where do I sign?

Cons:
1) You know that base outlet I talked about in (3) above? Yeah, about that: it rotates with the lamp.If you plan on rotating the lamp about the base beyond 90 degrees while having something stationary plugged in, it might harsh your buzz a bit to know that the prongs (of the electronic device that you've got plugged in) could get bent outta shape and ripped out. It happened to me while I was rotating the lamp about the base.Also, the cord of that electronic device you've got plugged in could also get wrapped around the base, hindering the movement of the lamp - that happened to me too. I wept quietly but nobody was around to see me.

2) Like all fluorescent lamps, you got that annoying hold-the-button-in-the-on-position-and-then-let-go mechanism to switch it on.This means you gotta hold the lamp head in place if you're going to turn on the fluorescent part. Not a deal-breaker.

3) Like the other reviewers,I got some sketchy packaging from the seller, Shoplet.Everything was there, it came in time, and the price was great but something about the way it was packed called to mind a shady, back-alley purchase out the back of a van... ...where you get great deal with no regrets.

This lamp only gets 4 starts because of the cons.However, if those cons don't seem like cons at all, then you got yourself a 5-star product, pal... time to add to cart.
